Villa11 Film Club

A conversation with István Szabó, film director, about the film Final Report

2024.09.24. 16:00

We are delighted to invite you to a special event where, after a screening of the film, István Szabó, National Artist, BAFTA and Kossuth Prize-winning film director, a European figure of influence and stature in Hungarian cinema, will share his thoughts on his film Final Report. István Szabó's Mephisto was the first Hungarian feature film to win an Oscar in 1982.

Date: 24 September 16:00

Venue: Villa11 (1026 Budapest, Torockó u. 11.)

Please note that the event is small and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to registration (upon payment of the participation fee) and up to the capacity of the Villa11 Salon.

After the screening of the film, István Szabó will talk at 18:30 about the making of his feature film Zárójelentés (Closing Report), which gives a snapshot of Hungarian society and its state today, and whose premiere is also a kind of visionary: the film debuted in February 2020 as the opening film of the Hungarian Cinema Review, but due to the covid closures it was only shown in cinemas for 2 weeks.

During the discussion, the director will also have the opportunity to answer questions from the guests.

István Szabó, who is 86 this year, donates his fees to support sick or difficult children.

Don't miss this special opportunity to meet in person one of the greatest figures of Hungarian cinema!
